Pulling the shot

  1. Place the portafilter in the machine.
  2. Place the scale under the machine.
  3. Place a cup on the scale.
  4. Tare the scale.
  5. Press and hold the two-cups button on the machine for at least one second, then release it.
  6. After 8-10 seconds, coffee will begin to flow out of the portafilter and into the cup. Once the scale reads 37g, press the two-cups button once to stop the pump.
  7. When the scale reads 45g, remove the cup from below the portafilter and remove the portafilter from the machine, using a towel to catch any remaining drips of coffee.
  8. Knock the spent puck into the garbage and wash out the portafilter with water from the sink. Then, place the portafilter on top of the machine facing down.
